John Cooke

John Cooke (1966-1970) was head boy at VCS. He thinks his stay at the school was decidedly beneficial but four years was long enough. He left the school in 1970 at age 13yrs to continue his studies at Kingham School. Later he became a probation officer. He died in 2015 (aged 58) and was described by one of his peers as a true gentleman.

His swimming certificate from the Corner era.

It looks as though John was an 'average' student (10/19) although geography was a strong point. Michael Morton taught Maths and Biology, Chris Dyer taught History. He remembered, with fondness, Karen Usher who taught Geography (any connection with this & his good mark?)
